More than a synthesizer.

The ARP 2600 is a semi-modular monophonic synthesizer marketed between 1971 and 1981 by the American company ARP. It is the portable version of the arp 2500. Its compact size will allow it to be part of many stages around the world.

ARP 2600 is a complete sound creation studio. Even today, the ARP 2600 is a bridge between the different elements of modular synthesis and the immediacy of a production/performance instrument.

A modular research synthesizer, the ARP 2600 is distinguished by the possibility of the possibility of routing the different electronic modules thanks to jack cables. The user can however use it without having to connect the elements.

Three versions followed one another during the ten years of production.

However, inside the synth there is a special filter: the one used until then was a copy of the famous moog ladder filter with four poles (the only moog patent). A discussion of lawyers between the two parties led to a modification of the design of the ARP filters.

In the process, a calculation error was made by their engineers and the result was a worse filter than Moog's.

Despite this, the ARP company grew exponentially during the 1970s.

The ARP 2600 includes a large number of oscillators, envelopes, a filter and an amplifier: all the basic elements of analogue synthesis.

  • 3 Oscillators: 3 VCO
  • Filter : 24 dB/octave low pass resonant (several generations)
  • 2 Envelope generators with ADSR or AR
  • Integrated effect: Reverb
  • 49-key keyboard

Korg presents the new ARP 2600 M , in a more compact and portable format, with additional features that make it the ideal incarnation of this historic synth.

Arturia ARP 2600 V

With the ARP 2600 V, Arturia brings its legendary analog modeling technology to the desktop. The 2600 V user interface is simple and easy to get to grips with, allowing you to quickly set up sounds to create your own unique sound.

The last word.

Its sound palette varies from heavy drum n' bass stabs to angular arpeggiated electro bass lines, whatever your chosen genre, the 2600 is a truly versatile sound creation tool which still takes its place at the heart of today's music.
