If you are a producer, you have surely been in the case where you produce a lot of music but you don't know what to do with it.

It stays in a folder on your computer and unfortunately you don't do anything with it.

For producers, most of their time is spent creating tracks in their studio.

Unfortunately, we sometimes have a hard time knowing what to do and how to distribute our creations.

The answer to this question is not always easy to answer, so you need to set up processes and content strategies related to your project.

For that, you will need to manage your music project as a real business and I would even say that you will have to manage it as a Start-Up.

Managing your career like a start-up is to think, work and use the tools of a start-up.

Each of these tasks can be done in a single free tool that is Notion.so.

Notion has emerged as the number one management tool in Silicon Valley. It simply allows you to do everything. You can create Project Management, To do list, Planning, Create process, database, create websites and even communicate with your team members.

We will see in this article how as a producer you can use these tools to gain productivity and focus on creating your piece.

1) Use templates.

Notion has made available many free templates that you can use freely to organize yourself. However, very few templates provided are really suitable. If you want to save time in creating your producer workspace, I've gathered all the tools and web resources you need to manage your music projects on Notion.

Here is the link: Notion Producer Pack

The advantage is that you can easily customize the templates by modifying each tool according to your ideas.

2) Create resource databases.

Databases will allow you to store in one place all the resources you need to progress.

This can be free, blog post, YouTube video, Masterclass and more. You can also add tags according to the saved content for example by style, modo etc..

With the Save to Notion chrome extension, it's very easy to browse the web and put dozens of resources in your database in 1. This is personally the tool I use.

If you are interested in an idea of what a database looks like, you can download the free Plugins List one. It's a list of the best plugins with the possibility to sort them by price and genre.

3) Use project management tools.

✔️ Gain clarity when viewing your project. Of course, depending on your needs, you may need to use other technical tools to accomplish particular tasks. But where Notion really shines is that it allows you to gather all the components of your project in one place: to-do list, resources, database, calendar & deadlines, visuals, links, etc.

As a producer, it is imperative to organize tasks with one of these tools. And to control your content that you will publish on networks, or send to labels.

Here's an example of a chart that gives you the big picture.

✔️ Gain agility in managing your project. When you need to run a project from start to finish, the main challenge is probably to find a tool that is perfectly suited to the specifics of your project.

Most platforms offer ready-made structures, which can be very convenient but can also represent a certain frustration.

With Notion, this is not an issue since it is 100% custom-made. So you are totally free to imagine the structure most adapted to your project or your working habits. I advise you to stay simple in its use because you can quickly get lost among the hundreds of possibilities offered by notion.

✔️Gain in efficiency if you work with several people.

If you are in the music business quite advanced, it is likely that you have to manage several people, like graphic designers or artist managers. Notion allows you to collaborate on your entire project, on a few isolated tasks, or even to share your work your collaborators.

What's you need to remember

In short, Notion is kind of the central platform on which to organize your ideas and your work. And so it's a very good point to have a global vision of your progress.

The time saving obtained through the use of its tools will allow you to focus fully on the creation of your pieces and stop wasting your time doing useless tasks.

If you are convinced by the use of these tools, I have created a Notion pack where I list all the resources and tools that I personally use to manage my projects like a start-up.
